Caminhando, Núcleo de Educação e Ação Social is a non-profit organization located in São Paulo, Brazil. Established in1989 to meet the educational needs of special needs children, the organization has evolved into one of the most respected institutions of it's kind in Brazil. The institute operates as a training center for the physically and mentally challenged providing real-life skills and tools, helping to end the cycle of poverty that these defeciencies create.
Boca Helping Hands - Boca Raton, FL
This organization was started in 1998 by a group of 15 people from local congregations in the Boca Raton areaconcerned with the growing needs of hunger and other problems in the community. Boca Helping Hands operates a Food Center serving hot lunches 3 days a week and giving out groceries to families in need. An after-school sandwich program started in March, 1999. Currently we serve 5 after-school programs for low-income children during the school year, making and delivering over 60,000 sandwiches annually to approximately 360 children. The Food Program has expanded to five days a week and includes delivering home cooked meals to homebound disabled and elderly individuals. In 2005, we served nearly 25,000 lunches to an average of about 100 people per day and delivered over 7,000 meals to the homebound. The Assistance Center was opened in April, 2002, and offers limited financial help in crisis situations. It also assists individuals in finding a job, preparing resumes and mentoring for job interviews through its Job Program.
